Celebrating National Cleaning Week 2023
Once again, we at ISSA are encouraging our members to participate in National Cleaning Week, March 26—April 1, 2023. This is the fourth year in a row ISSA is working on expanding the public acknowledgment of the industry’s positive impact on the economy, as well as how cleaning relates to improving public health.
In 2022, the U.S. House of Representatives, 14 states, Puerto Rico, and the City of Chicago all proclaimed an official “Cleaning Week.” The week represents a unique opportunity to celebrate the value of clean, raise public awareness about the positive impacts of proper cleaning, and promote your business and the cleaning industry.
How can you participate?
Leading up to and during National Cleaning Week, ISSA will offer our members opportunities to actively participate in this national recognition of the industry and its workers and in promoting the value of clean to the public. This will include the following:
- Registering for our free webinar, How to Leverage National Cleaning Week on February 22, 2023.
- Asking your governor to proclaim March 26-April 1, 2023, as National Cleaning Week.
- Sharing graphics and information about National Cleaning Week on social media using the hashtag #NationalCleaningWeek (Graphics will be available for downloading at www.issa.com/NCW).
- Running promotions and telling your customers about National Cleaning Week and the Value of Clean.
- Giving back and supporting ISSA Charities at www.issacharities.org.

2023 Clean Advocacy Summit and fly-in
ISSA’s Clean Advocacy Summit is one major event you won’t want to miss during this special week. On March 28-29, 2023, ISSA members from around the country will be in Washington, D.C., to learn about and advocate for the issues impacting the cleaning industry the most.
Now more than ever, we need your participation and voice to advocate, influence, and make an impact. In 2022, ISSA hosted the industry’s first in-person “fly-in” event attracting nearly 60 industry leaders representing the entire cleaning supply chain. Advocates from more than 21 states met with more than 40 congressional offices throughout the two-day event to encourage policies that positively impact the industry, such as the Employee Retention Tax Credit, tariffs, and healthy workplace incentives.
On the first day of this two-day advocacy event, participants will receive the inside scoop on the top public policy issues facing their business and industry, including labor shortages, supply chain challenges, tariffs, ending period poverty, sustainability, and more.
You will also receive training on how to be an effective Advocate for Clean and network with leaders from across the industry. On the second day, participants will apply their new knowledge and skills by “hiking the hill” and getting the chance to meet with their congressional delegation.
“Through the ISSA Clean Advocacy Summit, we have an opportunity to visit with our legislators and talk to them about the policies that affect our businesses every day. We need their help to operate and grow our businesses,” said Vonachen Group CEO and ISSA board of directors president Matt Vonachen. “I invite ISSA members to join me in supporting our association at the 2023 ISSA Clean Advocacy Summit. We need as many members as possible at the summit to push the voice of our industry.”
“With a new Congress and many new faces, it’s more important than ever for ISSA to be at the table. We need industry leaders to help us build on the success of our 2022 summit by attending this important fly-in to our nation’s capital in 2023,” said ISSA executive director John Barrett.
This event is for everyone from CEOs to front-line employees wanting to make a difference. Only together can we change the way the world views cleaning. Register today at www.issa.com/cleanadvocacysummit.
