Canadian Cleaning Industry Icon Passes Away

Jean Larose passed away May 6, 2021 at the age of 85.

Larose, a lifelong entrepreneur, founded his family’s business, Larose et Fils, with his father in 1954. Larose became a member of ISSA in 1960 and proudly attended every ISSA Show North America from 1960 through to 2018. He joined the Canadian Sanitation Supply Association (CSSA), now known as ISSA Canada in 1962, and was only the second member from outside Ontario. In 1963, he became chapter chairman and worked to expand the association throughout eastern Canada. He ascended to president of the CSSA in 1975.

In 1979, Larose was named the first-ever international director for ISSA. He was influential in convincing ISSA to host its annual trade show in Montreal in 1982, the first time ISSA Show North America took place outside of the United States.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lise, two children, and four grandchildren.
