ISSA Releases 2023-2024 ISSA Advocacy Fund Impact Report

ISSA has released the 2023-2024 ISSA Advocacy Fund Impact Report to recognize the association’s most recent government affairs accomplishments and kick off the fourth annual campaign to support the ISSA Advocacy Fund (IAF).

This past year, IAF contributions assisted ISSA in getting the Essential Workers for Economic Advancement Act introduced in Congress and securing bipartisan support for this legislation to create a year-round, non-seasonal temporary worker program. Other IAF highlights this past year included increasing access to period products in seven states; recognition by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a 2023 Safer Choice Partner of the Year; securing 26 federal, state, and municipal Cleaning Week proclamations as part of International Cleaning Week 2024; and more.

In 2020, ISSA created the IAF to build on the success of its government affairs and ensure that the association has the resources to successfully advocate and influence public policies on behalf of the full cleaning supply chain.

“We thank our 70+ contributors for their generous support of the ISSA Advocacy Fund,” said ISSA Director of Government Affairs John Nothdurft. “Our advocacy success this past year wouldn’t have been possible without this support for our grassroots advocacy, lobbying, coalition building, and public relations efforts to allow the entire cleaning industry to thrive.”

In the coming year, ISSA Government Affairs will advocate for public policies that:

  • Address labor shortages in the cleaning industry
  • Protect workers rather than using arbitrary square footage production caps
  • Incentivize healthy and safe workplaces
  • Ensure that regulations of cleaning products are based on science
  • End period poverty.

But we need your help! With the presidency, 468 congressional seats (33 Senate seats and all 435 House seats), and 11 gubernatorial races all in play this November, now is the time to strengthen the voice of the cleaning industry. Please contribute to the IAF, so that we can continue our important work on behalf of the full cleaning supply chain.

Contributions in any amount are welcome; benefits start at US$50. If 100 ISSA members contribute to the IAF now through August, ISSA will receive an additional $3,000 for the fund!

IAF contributions are not tax-deductible and will not be used to support candidates for political office or political parties. We accept contributions from individuals, corporations, and political action committees in unlimited amounts.
